From Our Founder

“My grandfather, Joe Iannucci of Bridgeport — a barber for over 50 years at his shop, The Friendly Barber on the East Side of Bridgeport — used to visit his sick clients in the hospital because he believed they still deserved to look their best. That’s where this business was born.”

I grew up watching Joe do something simple and profound: he showed up for people when they couldn’t come to him. From the day he opened The Friendly Barber in 1965, he never thought twice about it. When his clients got sick, he packed his bag and went to them — because a man’s dignity doesn’t stop at the hospital door. That lesson never left me.

Over a decade ago, I started Doorbell Barbers to carry that same idea forward. As an Eagle Scout and lifelong Connecticut resident, service isn't a brand value to me — it's a family inheritance from a Bridgeport barber who spent 50 years proving it. Every visit we make is a continuation of what he started.

This is one of our core specialties. Our barbers are experienced working with clients who have tremors, rigidity, or involuntary movement. We take our time, communicate throughout, and adapt the service. We never rush a Parkinson's appointment. See our dedicated Parkinson's Care Comfort Package ($125 one-time / $105 monthly).

Yes — and we do it regularly. We work with facilities throughout Fairfield County and are familiar with sign-in procedures and visitor protocols. Just let us know the facility name and we'll handle the logistics.

We're fully equipped for bedside haircuts. We bring everything we need and can work with clients who can't sit in a chair. We serve clients at Yale New Haven Health, Hartford HealthCare, and other facilities across the county.

A typical visit is 45–60 minutes. For clients with Parkinson's or complex needs, we build in extra time. Your barber stays as long as the service requires. There is no clock running.

We do our best to match the same barber for recurring clients — especially on our Monthly Dignity Plan and Bi-Weekly Care Program. Consistency matters, particularly for clients with dementia or anxiety. Request your preferred barber when booking.

Gratuity is not included but is always appreciated. Your barber works hard to provide a genuinely great experience. Tips can be given in cash at the time of service. Any amount is gratefully received.
